Washing Away Sadness

Have you ever experienced a difficult time in your life when you felt desperate or alone?  Have you ever had one of those days where you felt like nothing could make the situation any worse?  I hate to say this, but life is never going to be easy.  There are going to be days that seem like the end of the world, but they are not.  It is a scary world out there sometimes, but it is also a beautiful one and it shouldn’t go to waste.  So, let us all wash away the sadness.  Let’s take a deep breath, talk to family and friends, and maybe take some time to wallow if we need it!

If you are at all like me, you may have not truly “found yourself” in this crazy big world quite yet, but that’s okay.  You don’t have to have your whole life planned out.  Just take each day one step at a time.  The slower you take things, the easier it will become to discover all of the things that make you happy.

Despite the fact that some people will leave your life, there are a lot of people who will always be there for you, probably even more people than you think.  So, if you ever have a day when you feel like less than your best and you don’t know why you should keep going, make an effort to reach out to one of your trusted few and listen to what they have to say. I know it can be really difficult to imagine right now, but whatever you are going through, at least one other person has gone through something like it before.  We all have our hardships and sometimes sharing them with other people can be the most beneficial thing for us to do.

If there is anything Lorelai Gilmore from Gilmore Girls has taught me other than to love coffee, it’s that it is okay to wallow sometimes.  Wallowing is essentially indulging in something you like out of self-pity.  When you are feeling sad, it is okay to cry.  It is perfectly okay to lay in bed all day and eat ice cream if that’s what you feel like you need to do as long as that does not turn into an everyday habit.   As my wise mother has taught me, “Everything is good in moderation!”  If you don’t want to wallow, then find a way to express yourself.  Perhaps you want to try something totally new, or maybe you already have something that you love to do.  For me, dancing, yoga, and writing are things that I find that help chase the blues away.  Whatever you do, just make sure it makes you happy!

A smile can be the world’s most powerful tool.  Make sure to use your smile often!  You should never feel like you have to hide your feelings, but sometimes if you fake a smile, then it will lead to a real one.  People like to see other people happy, so do your best to be strong and shine those pearly whites! 🙂

Everyone in this world deserves to be happy, but life treats us unfairly sometimes and we have to experience pain every once in a while.  Always remember who you are, though.  Sometimes overthinking things can lead to unwanted stress or pain.  Don’t let your pain define you; let it make you stronger.  Do what you need to do to make yourself feel better in times of sorrow and never give up.  We were all put on this planet because we are strong enough to live here, so let’s wash away the sadness and get moving.

Is it difficult for you to remain happy at this gloomy time of year?  What do you do to cheer yourself up?  Thank you for sharing.  I can’t wait to hear from you!

Namaste.

I really appreciate you taking the time to read my blog and share your ways of coping with the winter blues! I am loving Justin Bieber’s recent music and I love blasting music when I am sad also! Great ideas, love your optimism! Thank you for brightening my Monday! 🙂

Yes it is difficult to remain happy at this time of year. As it is for my dad and my grandma. I make sure I ear beautiful colourful food; I go to my local cafe and get a beautiful smelling coffee; I blast out my favourite feel good song (currently Justin Bieber – Love Yourself – awesome!) and losing myself in an easy to watch gripping to series – currently The Good Wife (season 5). A lovely hot bath, and Hendricks gin, myopic and cucumber. The foregoing all equates to happiness! 😃. And chin up. Nearly Spring! Yay!
