Forgive And Forget

What do you think would be more beneficial to you: holding a grudge against someone for one mistake or forgiving them and moving forward with your life?

Sometimes it can be difficult to move past another person’s mistakes, especially when he or she affects us individually.  But don’t we ALL make mistakes???  I know that some things in life are harder to forgive than others, depending on the situation, but we have to be able to forgive people so that we can move forward in our lives and strengthen our relationships with other people.

Why is it so hard to forgive other people?   I don’t really think it is hard for us to recognize our own personal mistakes, as we are always trying to improve ourselves as individuals.  Oftentimes, though, we get so caught up with our side of the doubt in conflicting situations that we struggle to let the situation go.  In doing so, we tend to weaken our relationships with other people.  Life is so short though.  So, while we are here we might as well try to get along with and connect with as many people as possible.  Relationships help us to grow and learn more about ourselves and also provide the comfort and support that we desire.

Forgiveness comes from the ability to accept and appreciate one’s differences.  It is no easy concept, especially when someone hurts you or another person that you know.  But no one is perfect.  Usually, our mistakes are unintentional.  Most of us hate to hurt other people.  Therefore, we should try our best and forgive others in order to move on and carry out our lives.  Forgiveness heals us.  As Johnathan Lockwood Hule once advised, “Forgive others not because they deserve forgiveness, but because you deserve peace.”
